When a maintenance team isolates equipment and applies the EDT003, any other worker approaching that equipment immediately knows two things, the equipment must not be operated, and the Maintenance Department is responsible for the isolation. The writable fields allow the isolating worker to record their name, the date, and relevant notes, so incoming shift workers or other crews have the information they need without having to track down the original isolating party.
