Frequently Asked Questions.

For outdoor and site use, signs need to hold up against weather, UV exposure, and the general wear of a busy site. We offer signs on materials including corflute, aluminium, rigid PVC, and reflective substrates for low-light environments. The right material depends on how long the sign will be in place, whether it will be fixed or temporary, and the conditions it will face. Our team can help you choose the right specification for your application.

Start with a site hazard assessment and a review of your SWMS and site-specific safety plan. These documents will highlight the hazards and controls in place, and signage requirements follow from that. Australian Standard AS 1319 provides guidance on safety sign selection and placement. If you are unsure, our team can review your site plan and recommend a signage package that covers your compliance obligations and your practical needs.

Signs should be installed at eye level where possible, positioned so they are clearly visible from the direction of approach, and free from obstructions. On construction sites, conditions change regularly, so signs should be checked as part of routine site inspections. Replace any signs that are faded, damaged, or no longer relevant to site conditions. Outdated or illegible signs can create confusion and undermine your safety system.

On large civil sites, poor wayfinding creates real safety risks. Workers and visitors who are unsure where to go may wander into exclusion zones, restricted areas, or active plant zones. Clear wayfinding signage directs people along safe pedestrian routes, identifies site entry and exit points, and helps emergency services navigate the site quickly when needed. Good wayfinding also reduces congestion and supports site induction by giving new arrivals a clear sense of the layout.
